Los Angeles, CA, June 25, 2026 — Canadians Abroad of Southern California invites the community to celebrate Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 5:30 to 10:30 pm on the back patio of The Edmon. The free event is open to everyone 21 and up, with RSVP required. The non-profit organization has been the official host of Canada Day in Los Angeles since 1998, along with the Canadian Consulate in LA.
The evening will include a performance of the national anthem by Flo Oramasionwu, marking her fifth consecutive year leading the celebration in song. Flo has become a beloved fixture of the Canadians Abroad Canada Day tradition, known for bringing soul and heart to the occasion. "I love doing it because it's a pleasure and honour to celebrate our great country with other Canadians, even if outside of Canada," said Flo.
The brief presentation will be hosted by Canadian comedian Renee Percy, and will include remarks from Zoe Kevork, Chief Executive Officer of Canadians Abroad, and Sylvie Bédard, Consul General a.i. of Canada, along with the presentation of the CAIA winners. The celebration will also feature plenty of Caesars and poutine, a DJ, and more.
Canadians Abroad Impact Awards Winners to Be Announced
One highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the winners of the inaugural Canadians Abroad Impact Awards (CAIA), marking the official launch of the program. This year's CAIA received more than 40 nominations across four categories: Arts & Culture, STEM & Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Business, and Advocacy & Philanthropy. Finalists were evaluated on Impact, Leadership, Innovation, and Canadian Spirit, and winners will be revealed live at the celebration.
Special Reveal from Visual Artist Pete Kasprzak
Another exciting moment will be when Canadian visual artist Pete Kasprzak, a CAIA finalist in the Arts & Culture category, unveils a new piece in his highway sign series with a special Canadian twist. Ahead of the reveal, Kasprzak invited the community to help 'tag' the sign with suggestions on social media, from Tim Hortons to Strombo to the Blue Jays. Attendees can see which ideas made it onto the final artwork at the celebration.
A Gift for the Kids
While this particular event is reserved for guests 21 and up, Canadians Abroad has a Canada Day treat for younger fans: a free downloadable colouring sheet, available at canadiansabroad.com.
